The cookieChoice value records whether a reader accepted or rejected optional storage. It is stored locally and is checked when the banner loads.
3. Session operation
Hosting infrastructure may use short-lived session identifiers to deliver pages and protect requests. These identifiers normally expire when a session ends or within 24 hours.
4. Analytics
If optional analytics are enabled in a future deployment, they will be used only in aggregate to understand page visits and may have a maximum lifespan of 13 months.
5. Preference storage
Preference records may remember accessibility or display choices for up to 12 months. They are not intended to identify a reader personally.
6. Third parties
Embedded external services may set their own storage. Tralum avoids unnecessary embeds and links to the provider’s notice where a service is used.
7. Consent
The banner offers Accept and Reject controls. Rejecting optional storage does not prevent access to editorial pages.
8. Browser controls
Most browsers let you delete cookies, block third-party storage, or ask before storing a record. Blocking all storage may change how preferences work.
9. Retention
Choice storage may remain until deleted or replaced. Operational logs are generally retained for 90 days, while aggregate reports may remain for 26 months.

Processors can include hosting and delivery infrastructure, email routing, security monitoring, and an analytics provider if that option is deployed. External links may set their own cookies only after the reader leaves Tralum, and those providers control their own notices. We avoid unnecessary embedded media because it can introduce storage outside our direct control.
